@ VarazirYes, there is an easier way to have Windows 7 and Windows 8 installation media on the same USB. Please go through the following post:intowindows.com/how-to-install-windows-7-and-windows-88-1-from-same-usb/

Yes, you can. If you want to automatically install drivers and software along with Windows, check out these guides:intowindows.com/how-to-integrate-drivers-into-windows-7-installation-disc/intowindows.com/how-to-include-or-integrate-drivers-in-windows-8-iso-image/intowindows.com/how-to-include-new-gadgets-themes-wallpapers-and-screensavers-in-windows-7-setup-iso-file/

@AdminOh no sir, i am not trying to install windows 7 on my USB, what i am trying to do is, install windows 7 64bit from Usb to my Hard drive. I am currently running Windows 7 32 bit on my hard drive.I also tried to use the software which is being given here to download from microsoft, after all the steps it all also stated that your USB was succesfully turned into a bootable flash USB, but when i try to boot it doesnt works, and when i try to run the setup from USB to install it on my hard disk, it does not let me do it.
@GabyIt looks like you are trying to install Windows 7 on USB. This guide is to help you install Windows 7 on a hard drive from USB instead of DVD. If you want to install Windows 7 on USB, check out this guide : intowindows.com/how-to-install-windows-7-to-usb-external-hard-drive-must-read/
format a 4GB USB to NTFS file system and then copy the contents of windows 7 installation disk to pendrive.Restart your computer and press F12 for boot menu.last select your USB drive in the list and press enter.Windows 7 installation begins.
your drive is now ready to use, simply copy the contents of your instalation media, or extract an iso file to the usb drive itself. * make sure on the target pc you have USB drive as 1st boot device and this will work for any windows install.
Hey to all, i Just have a question, after i make a bootable usb drive to install windows and if im already finish in installing, can i still use usb for saving files,or after the installation is complete can i still erase the installer of windows 7 from usb?Thank you guyz, and i will be waiting for your opinion :)
I have done this all, and when restarted with bios boot from usb, install screen came up, it copied windows files, then expanded windows files, it then self restarts and instead of finishign nstall process it bring me back to install screen to reclcik install and select which partition? why is that?
Hey guys,It also work fine with me,just a few tips that already said above.1.open cmd in admin mode only,if dont ur access will be denied.2.if you are running win 32 bit(x86) and wants to install a 64bit(x64)windows you will have a problem.you should find a win 32bit and try to update the USB drive with BOOTMGR compatible code with that dvd.after that you can put your win64bit files on USB and change the boot priority at the BIOS to USB from the HDD or CD ROM drive.notice that you need to change this priority after copying win files into HDD to continue installing from HDD.
@DumplumpThis guide is only to prepare a bootable USB so that you can install Windows 7 from USB. If you want to install Windows 7 to an external USB drive, check out our this guide:intowindows.com/how-to-install-windows-7-to-usb-external-hard-drive-must-read/
ButI do face some weirdo problem here. I am installing Win7 64bits and the install will require a reboot. At the beginning usually we press any key to enter the windows setup but after the reboot it is not required.
Thankyou, after running into the problem of the windows 7 installation hanging when it expands files when i used the dvd was doing my head in, then using this method and booting the setup via usb, made it work like a charm
Worked like a charm! I was having network connection difficulties on my HP mini 210. It would connect wireless for about 15 minutes then drop and not come back. HP determined that it might be a windows issue and wanted me to reinstall Windows 7 Starter with their USB drive. Rather than wait over 5 days for the drive, I followed these steps (very clear btw) and it booted right into the reinstall and it kicked off just fine. Now I can put a fresh install of 7 Ultimate on and see if that fixes it. Thanks!
hi,Thanks to you for sharing this.Actually my DVD drive was not working and i was not getting any way to install my new copy of windows so i copy all my data in my USB drive attached with other desktop machine and by using this process i installed windows on my laptop. It is really an amazing way for installation.
Hi, i have one concern because you see i have already a soft copy of the windows 7 installation files. There is no DVD file on it. So, my concern is that what am i gonna do in step 6 and step 7? what should i skip? or is there something else i should do? Please Help. email me PLEASE..

Installing operating system through usb flash drive is really a difficult task how ever installing vista and windows 7 are now made easy using the usb flash drive. The above listed post explains a step wise approach to installation using sub flash drive. impressive post , keep updating more important stuff.
Anyway, my point is full NTFS support in windows 95 is feasible, as demonstrated by the ex- Winternals. If you want to redo it from scratch, great ! My other point, which you may disagree, is that apart for the beauty of the exercise, that effort would be rather moot in the 21st century. If you multi-boot, access your NTFS partition(s) from the OSes that can do so natively, and/or from Linux ; if you have only Win 9x installed on that machine, why would you want an NTFS to begin with ?
Saya pernah menemui masalah spt ini. Mungkin bisa dicoba dengan merubah tipe hard disk anda dari SATA ke IDE. atau coba ke link yang saya referensikan ini : -enabling-sata-mode-ahci-after-xp-install-applicable-most-laptops-systems.html -xp-support/936428.htm
I followed the directions as originally posted (DOS_FAT_32 with MBR on the external) and got all the way through the windows virtual install without a glitch. When I rebooted my mac, holding option, the only boot option that appeared was my Mac HD.
Oh thats a shame, if you do ever succeed in finding a workaround, please let me know. Im having to run windows on another laptop, carrying them both around is a real pain. There is nowhere near enough space on my hard drive to partition it for a windows installation.
My mac apparently partitioned the disk as GPT, which Windows would not install on. I kept formatting the disk inside the windows VM and it got to NTSF but is still a GPT partition. How can I fix this so that windows will install?
Failed:When Creating bootcamp.vmdk, I was getting I/O read error showing as its already in use.Solution:Make sure the External Drive on whom you want to install windows is ejected and run the command in terminal again.
Solution:I was not able to find its solution so far. Maybe its because bootcamp expects the installation of windows to be on MAC drive rather then on external drive.Any help in solving this problem will greatly help.
2) The Fat32 format was only for the USB that holds the Bootcamp support files, and not for your external OS drive. Mac can read MS-DOS and MS-DOS FAT32, but their Disk Utility has no option to format FAT32. It was important though because formatted as MBR/MS-DOS, windows did not recognize it at all and only offered to reformat it whenever I plugged it in. So, I took them up on the offer, erased the Bootcamp files and reformatted it as FAT-32 as Windows defaulted it to, then went back into Mac OS and ran the Bootcamp download again pointing to the USB drive now FAT32. Windows then recognized it when I returned and all Bootcamp drivers were successfully installed.
ok, have followed your changes, and after installing windows,i reboot (in time) my mac with the alt-key, he shows 2 disks (OS and Windows) , select the windows-disk, and then a message shows up: . Any idea what i did wrong?
I have an external fire wire drive with bootable OS 10.6.8 and a Windows 7 partition.I upgraded to OS 11.3 on my internal SSD. The Mac OS on the external drive is still bootable. The windows partition is not. If I install the drive into the laptop (6.2) Everything works fine. 2ff7e9595c
